I Made a Commercial for a Brand That Doesn't Exist
So today is a Demo of two major GenAI commercial video elements. Making a project entirely with a GenAI MCP (OpenArt AI) and using Video to Video technology for video shot control.
Why am I doing this test? Companies on a budget can now hit a visual bar that used to take real production cost. I spent part of Saturday testing how far that actually goes, and I'll break it down.
I made a 10-second commercial for a non-alcoholic aperitivo that doesn't exist.
How I made it
I ran OpenArt's MCP through Claude, so I could direct the whole thing in conversation instead of clicking around a UI. Prompt, look at it, adjust, go again.
I shot ONE plate on my phone. Me pouring water into a glass in my kitchen. Overhead light, nothing staged, dog bowls in frame (I have two dogs, they made the raw footage but sadly I had to cut them out).
Then I restyled that exact frame and animated it. Same hand, same glass position, same pour angle. The water became an amber aperitivo. The Brita pitcher became a steel shaker.
That last one is the part I actually care about. That's not "AI made a nice shot." That's footage I staged myself, transformed, with my composition still intact.
Now the caution, because I'm not going to oversell this
The shaker took SIX tries before one came back looking like a shaker instead of a jug. One out of six. And the AI hand in that shot is obvious enough that I cut it down to a few seconds in the final edit. Then I put a grain filter on this to hide the AI plastic feel. The tools are genuinely good. They are not magic, and knowing what to cut is still the job.
So here is why this all matters
A new beverage brand used to need a shoot day just to look like a real brand. This can be extremely expensive for companies on a tight budget. Now the floor is a phone and an afternoon. That doesn't make the work good, and taste is still the entire job. What it does is remove a major advertising barrier.
I picked a non-alcoholic aperitivo on purpose. Younger people are drinking less, the NA category is growing fast, and a lot of those brands still look like wellness products. Even in making this demo spot, my producer brain was thinking of where the industry is going and what to expect for brand work. So this mirrored the energy of a standard alcoholic drink commercial, but positioned itself for this new market of NA drinkers.
Where it would run
The place where this spot would run would be on a YouTube commercial you see before a video. Small screen to hide some of the GenAI imperfections, quick shots for that as well, and in and out very quickly so you don't dwell on each shot and focus on the overall product message instead.
Going to run this same test against a few more categories. Excited to see how it goes and figured this might be useful to you all.
